ASKED QUESTIONS
.

Thank you for taking the time to consider our Ranch as your high quality beef source. We love all of our animals and customers! Hope to hear from you soon. In the meantime, these FAQs should help you with your decision.

  • How do I calculate my price for a beef share?
We charge $7.50 per pound of hanging weight, which includes processing and handling. Delivery is an additional fee based on your location and distance from Fourbar Ranch. Here’s how you can estimate the cost, keep in mind that your final weight will not be known until it is sent to the processing facility: Example Calculation for a Full Cow: Live weight: ~1,200 pounds Estimated hanging weight: 1,200 x 0.60 = ~720 pounds Price for full cow: 720 pounds x $7.50 per pound = $5,400 Estimated packaged meat for a full cow: 720 pounds (hanging weight) x 0.60 = ~432 pounds of packaged meat To Calculate Half and Quarter Cow Prices: To calculate the estimates for a half or quarter cow you can divide the whole cow estimates. Half Cow: Half of the hanging weight: 720 pounds / 2 = ~360 pounds Price: 360 pounds x $7.50 per pound = $2,700 Quarter Cow: Quarter of the hanging weight: 720 pounds / 4 = ~180 pounds Price: 180 pounds x $7.50 per pound = $1,350 Important Reminder: The hanging weight is not the same as the pounds of packaged beef you’ll take home. To understand how much beef you’ll actually receive, check out the question "How much beef do I get with a share?" in our FAQ section.
  • What is a beef share?
A beef share means you’re buying a portion of a cow, such as a quarter, half, or whole cow. This allows you to stock up on high-quality beef at a better price than buying individual cuts.
  • How much freezer space do I need?
A quarter share typically needs 4-5 cubic feet, a half share needs 8-10 cubic feet, and a whole cow requires about 16-20 cubic feet of freezer space.
  • Do you have payment plans?
Yes, we offer payment plans! You can pay over time, but the total amount needs to be paid before you pick up your beef. The sooner you start, the smaller your monthly payments will be. For example, if a whole cow costs $5,400 and you join our April list in September, you’ll have 8 months to pay, making it $675 each month. If you start later, your monthly payments will be higher. And if you need more time, we can move you to the next processing list.
  • How much beef do I get with a share?
It depends on the size of the share you purchase: Quarter Share: Typically around 100-150 pounds of packaged beef. Half Share: About 200-300 pounds of packaged beef. Whole Cow: Approximately 400-600 pounds of packaged beef.
  • How long will the beef last in my freezer?
Our beef is flash frozen and double wrapped to hold freshness for up to 12 months in your freezer.
  • Is Fourbar Ranch beef organic?
At Fourbar Ranch, we focus on giving our livestock the best care to ensure they lead a happy and healthy life. While we do use some fertilizers to help our pastures grow better grass for our cattle, our feed program avoids antibiotics, excessive chemicals, and hormones. We believe that a stress-free environment for our cattle results in higher quality meat. Although our practices are aligned with many organic principles, we are not certified organic at this time. This is a deliberate choice we've made for our ranch.
  • Can I split my beef shares with family or friends?
Yes! We actually have people do this all the time. We encourage you to share and split your beef shares. We will divide up the beef shares for you per your request. Just select the "split" that fits your needs on the butcher cut sheet.
  • What cuts of beef are included in a share?
You’ll receive a variety of cuts, including steaks, roasts, ground beef, and more. We can customize your order based on your preferences. We provide you with a cut selection sheet that we are more than happy to help you fill out to get the best cuts for your family!
  • Is grass-fed better than grain-fed?
Nutrition-wise, grass-fed beef offers a few benefits that grain-fed beef doesn’t. However, many people prefer the flavor of grain-fed beef. Grain-fed beef tends to have a sweeter flavor than grass-fed beef. Reference: My Chicago Steaks
  • When will my beef be ready for pick-up?
We’ll give you a pick-up date once your beef has been processed, which usually takes a few days after the cow goes to the processing facility. Some cows will be sent early in the scheduled month, and some will be sent later in the month. We use the entire month to ensure your cow is just the right size and to get you the best quality meat. You’ll receive an email and text when your cow has been sent for processing and we know the exact hanging weight. After we receive your full payment, we’ll arrange pick-up or delivery for you.
  • How do I order a beef share?
You can place an order by contacting us directly through our website or by phone. We’ll guide you through the process and answer any other questions you may have.
